Vince San Angelo passed along the very sad news that Nancy Cox died around 9:00 a.m. today, September 23rd, 2021. I don’t know the details of the cause of her passing. The family intends to have a memorial event at some time in the future, but no plans have yet been made.
Nancy and her husband were among the original residents of the Sunrise Canyon community. Nancy, who I believe was in her 90’s, was always full of energy, opinions and good humor.
I personally enjoyed many Happy Hours with Nancy, even as her mobility was failing in the last couple of years. We would share a chuckle when I would occasionally remind her about her comment to me the first time we met, in the pool in 2012. (Nancy was there with her water-aerobics friends, and I was just floating around trying to cool off.) Nancy asked if I was going to be a full-time resident. I responded that I was going to keep my permanent residence in Oregon, and that I intended to rent my place out some of the time I wasn’t in Tucson. Her response showed displeasure with my intention to allow renters to use my place. But, she did it in such a direct and not-unfriendly manner that I thought we would get along…and we did. I will miss Nancy.
